Caroline Hohlman, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Oncology)
Education: Auburn University
Internships: Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center of Westbury
Residency: Washington State University
A born and bred Long Islander, Dr. Hohlman received her veterinary degree from Auburn University in 2018. Although she initially aspired to be a dairy veterinarian, she soon realized that the early 4 a.m. wake-up calls didn’t allow for adequate coffee intake. It was during her final year in veterinary school that she discovered her passion for oncology and the meaningful patient connections it offered. Following this realization, she spent two months alongside Dr. Hunley at Gold Coast, who imparted invaluable insights into the non-textbook aspects of oncology.
After graduating, Dr. Hohlman completed a general rotating internship at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center of Westbury, followed by a specialized oncology internship at Washington State University. Post-internship, she chose to remain at WSU to pursue her oncology residency and master’s degree. She has since returned home to be closer to her family and relish the joys of waterfront living once more.
While Dr. Hohlman finds all the intricacies of oncology fascinating, she is particularly captivated by histiocytic sarcomas. In her free time, she indulges in her love for travel, often accompanied by her Black Lab mix, Finn, enjoys running and dedicates time to nurturing her collection of plants.
